内容提要：From the late 19th century through the 1960s, American rivers were heavily polluted and often caught fire. This is the story of the U.S. environmental movement that led to the 1972 Clean Water Act—landmark legislation that led to rivers that were “fishable, swimmable, and drinkable.”
